Charismatic and complex, Sergio Vieira de Mello (Wagner Moura) has spent the majority of his storied career as a top UN diplomat working in the world's most unstable regions, deftly navigating deals with presidents, revolutionaries, and war criminals for the sake of protecting the lives of ordinary people. But just as he readies himself for a simpler life with the woman he loves (Ana de Armas), Sergio takes one last assignment - in Baghdad, newly plunged into chaos following the US invasion. The assignment is meant to be brief, until a bomb blast causes the walls of the UN headquarters to come literally crashing down upon him, setting into motion a gripping life-or-death struggle. Inspired by a true story, SERGIO is a sweeping drama focused on a man pushed to his physical and emotional limits as he's forced to confront his own divisive choices about ambition, family, and his capacity to love. Written by Netflix

It was fast moving with plenty of action coupled with flashbacks to bring credence to the story as it evolved. The acting, staging and story line were realistic, tastefully accomplished and kept a person engrossed throughout. The lead character, Sergio, played by Wagner Moua, was exceptional. I came away with a high regard for the value he placed on man-kinds basic right to life and the moral fortitude with which he conducted his own life. He was a true credit to his chosen profession as a United Nations emissary. It was a fast 2 hours(1:58). Highly recommend this movie/documentary.

The film shows us that Sergio had an awesome omg so passionate and romantic and like with beaches and rain and just perfect affair with a staffer and THAT'S WHY he was right about Iraq! Take that, nasty Americans! And he created East Timor single-handedly after a hug with just an omg so nice Timorese lady. And he saved, like, THE WORLD, in-between making 50,000 cut out paper hearts with poems on them for his lover! This takes the biopic to new depths of peurile. Bravo.
